Project Description
IL Monte Galala is a world-class, mixed-use coastal development in Ain Sokhna, inspired by the scenic topography of Portofino and master planned by Gianluca Peluffo & Partners. Spanning over 2.24 million m² and featuring the world’s first mountain-top lagoon, the project introduces an innovative blend of hospitality, leisure, and residential experiences across varying elevations.
Geo-Consultants was engaged as the geotechnical consultant for multiple phases of the IL Monte Galala development. The project’s complex mountainous terrain and significant elevation differences posed unique challenges in terms of slope stability, foundation design, and earthworks planning.
Our scope included:
Comprehensive geotechnical investigations across various zones of the site, including boreholes, in-situ testing, and laboratory analysis
Slope stability assessments and recommendations for safe cut-and-fill operations across the stepped terrain
Foundation recommendations for low-rise residential clusters, hotel zones, and lagoon infrastructure
Evaluation of soil-structure interaction in the design of multiple retaining wall systems, which serve both as earth retention elements and as structural supports for overlying buildings.
Our early-stage involvement enabled safe and efficient site development by providing optimized earthworks strategies and foundation solutions that accommodated both architectural vision and challenging ground conditions. This contributed to maintaining the project’s aggressive construction schedule while ensuring long-term geotechnical stability for key structures, including the mountain-top lagoon and adventure park.
